Men's Residential Recovery Home No Cost at Entry
We are a six-to-twelve-month Christian men's residential recovery program, offering 24/7 supervision. Our rehabilitation house, located in Southwest Virginia, is dedicated to providing Christian recovery support in a safe, loving, and Christ-like manner.

The support and contributions from your individual, church, or organization enables us to be used by God in our mission to restore men's lives through our Christian recovery initiatives. Your financial assistance helps us to provide discipleship training and mentoring for the men of our region.
Recovery Through Christ Offers:
- An introduction... unto the person and power of Christ the Lord! We have experienced new lives, now and forevermore! Yes! Through the indwelling Spirit of the life changing God.
- Full-time residency - We seek to provide a friendly, family atmosphere.
- We have full-time supervision - A House Manager to ensure the safety of all the participants.
- We assist with developing a personal assessment and goal setting plan.
- We assist in obtaining I.D., license, vehicle, college education, G.E.D., job training, etc.
- We train the men to understand and manage emotions, problem-solving, dealing with anxiety, anger, irritability, stress, disappointment, etc.
- We provide and/or schedule transportation to all appointments.
- This is a mentorship program. An introduction to becoming a successful part of the community.
- There are sessions and classes that address relationships, building a new self-image. Explaining how to establish relationships with God and others. The value of discipline, service, structure, responsibility are taught here. How to thrive and enjoy life without the addition of artificial dopamine, etc.
- The men work through personal book studies that teach how to think, reason, write, and evaluate. The topics are practical, assisting in establishing new behavioral principles and patterns.
- Our church attendance helps to develop a meaningful and healthy world view, providing answers to our purpose for living; a grid upon which to discern right from wrong. Being around other Christians provides an opportunity to meet and feel comfortable around people who are not abusing drugs/alcohol, and those who previously have, but have been set free!
- We have a weekly Recovery Meeting: Community wide in Pennington Gap Mondays @ 6:30pm.
- There are random drug screenings, whenever necessary.

On behalf of Mountain Empire Community, I wish to express my formal support for the Recovery Through Christ men's recovery home efforts in Duffield as they work to provide housing and Christian recovery support for men recovering from addiction. MECC has been collaborating with Mr. Raeside to create a plan that includes occupational training and discipleship programs to mentor residents in recovery.
MECC believes this home would significantly benefit those in our service region who require support in their recovery efforts while also needing to acquire additional skills and knowledge for employability. This initiative ultimately aims to help these men become thriving and contributing members of the region's economy.

I understand the pressing need within Lee County for a southwest Virginia sober living home. Such a place would allow men struggling with substance abuse to reside while receiving instruction, guidance, and accountability. Typically, rehabilitation centers provide short-term experiences, yet men often need extended time and encouragement to alter their destructive patterns of behavior.
Therefore, I extend my support to Recovery Through Christ Ministries and hope for their success as they open their doors to beleaguered men in our community seeking faith-based recovery.

I am writing this letter of recommendation for Recovery Through Christ. Under the leadership of the program's founder, Rev. Jack Raeside, and the Recovery Home supervisor, Bro. Matthew Scott, the ministry has transformed the lives of many men formerly bound by addiction. The primary goal of this organization is to guide these men to Christ for the salvation of their souls, as He alone is the chain breaker and change maker. Through the power of prayer, individual discipleship training and mentoring, counseling, and saturation with the word of God, they help these men build a clean and productive life in their community beyond addiction. Our church and other local congregations have supported this ministry financially for several years. However, they urgently need additional financial support from mission-minded churches to sustain and expand this program, particularly in the context of establishing a Virginia rehabilitation house. I urge you to prayerfully consider financially supporting Recovery Through Christ of Duffield, Virginia.
